The UCI Law community transcends walls, we exist all through California, the United States, and the world. For many centuries earlier than it was codified Catholic canon law was “collected”, that is, it was discovered inside collections of official documents, a few of which collections had been themselves official, while others have been merely private. Most of these materials, and some later materials, were organized into the Corpus Iuris Canonici . The Code of Canons of the Eastern Churches is the primary integrated code of canon law for the Eastern Catholic Churches. Promulgated by John Paul II in 1990 and taking pressure in 1991, the Eastern Code changed scattered legislation that had, partially, ruled the Eastern Catholic Church in the course of the second half of the 20 th century.
